PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Agriculture’s (SDDA) Resource Conservation & Forestry Division is updating the South Dakota Forest Action Plan.
An online survey is available to gather public input regarding threats, management and benefits as these pertain to South Dakota’s forests. You access the survey online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SDFAPsurvey. The survey will close on Nov. 18, 2016.
The action plan will consider all forest ownerships, including state, private, federal and tribal forest lands. When completed, the Forest Action Plan will provide the general forest resource strategy for the state of South Dakota for the next ten years.
Agriculture is a major contributor to South Dakota’s economy, generating $25.6 billion in annual economic activity and employing over 115,000 South Dakotans. The South Dakota Department of Agriculture’s mission is to promote, protect and preserve this industry for today and tomorrow.
