Yankton, SD – Jay Williams, South Dakota’s Democratic U.S. Senate candidate accepted a request from KSFY News in Sioux Falls, KOTA Territory News in Rapid City, and KEVN Black Hills Fox in Rapid City to participate in a televised debate with Senator Thune on Tuesday evening October 25th. This will be the first head to head debate between Mr. Williams and incumbent Senator Thune. Williams and Thune will square off in two moderated forums in October as well. South Dakota Public Broadcasting is airing a televised moderated forum on Thursday evening October 13th and the downtown Sioux Falls Rotary Club is also hosting a moderated forum at their regular meeting at noon Monday, October 24th at the downtown Holiday Inn.
In a statement Mr. Williams said:
“I am pleased that KSFY, KOTA and KEVN have teamed up to have this debate. This will give the people of South Dakota an opportunity to compare Senator Thune and me on the issues that face our state and our country. The format for this televised debate will allow Senator Thune and me to comment directly on each others answers to questions posed by the moderator. Debates have been a traditional way for South Dakota voters to get a first hand look at the candidates as they address issues. I look forward to this debate.”
