Gov. Daugaard Orders State Capitol Flags At Half-Staff For Former State Sen. Jim Dunn

PIERRE, S.D. – Former state legislator Jim Dunn of Lead passed away on Aug. 11, 2016.

Dunn, 89, served as a state representative from 1971 – 73 and as a state senator from 1973 – 2001. He was assistant majority leader from 1989 – 92 and 1995 – 98, assistant minority leader from 1993 – 94, and senior assistant majority leader from 1999 – 2000.

Dunn’s 30 years of legislative service makes him the longest-serving legislator in South Dakota history, a distinction he shares with four others.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard has ordered flags to fly half-staff at the State Capitol on Friday, Aug. 19, the day of Dunn’s funeral.
