Ellsworth Air Force Base B-1 to Make Special Appearance in Custer Patriots Parade July 4th


ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. – A B-1 from the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, is scheduled to make special appearances at two events in South Dakota and one in Jordan, Montana July 4.

The events include:

— 10 a.m.: Patriots Parade, Custer, South Dakota

— 10:30 a.m.: Independence Day Parade, Belle Fourche, South Dakota

— 11:20 a.m.: Independence Day Celebration, Jordan, Montana

The B-1 flyovers are allowed as part of an approved training mission. Residents living in and around those communities could experience an increased noise level related to the flyovers.

With a crew of four, the B-1 can travel as fast as 900 miles per hour and
carry more than 50,000 pounds of munitions in a variety of configurations.

In 2015, Ellsworth B-1 aircrews distinguished themselves by employing over
7,000 weapons over the course of 1,000 sorties spanning 10,300 flying hours
in Southwest Asia in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation
Freedom’s Sentinel.
