Custer Artist Camille Riner Presented ” Helping Hands Award”

Local Artist Camille Riner was surprised when she was presented the ” Helping Hands Award” last night at the Custer School District appreciation dinner at Crazy Horse Memorial located in Custer, SD. She was credited for her many volunteer hours and keeping an art program going in the grade school after it was given the axe during state budget cuts a few years ago. Now we have a great art teacher in the grade school again, but Camille is still helping out almost every week.

Riner has a BFA from the University of South Dakota and her MFA in printmaking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before moving back to South Dakota she taught art and design at Southwestern Michigan College. Currently she works in her studio with her husband Paul Horsted and teaches workshops in printmaking, papermaking and book arts.
